ATEX & Hazardous Area Labelling

Project-specific labelling machinery for hazardous-area requirements.

ATEX labelling machine, hazardous area labeller, explosion proof labeller

Is this the right range?

Hazardous-area projects need early review of the product, site zoning and control requirements. ATEX-related labelling machinery must be specified from the risk assessment rather than treated as a standard machine.

  • Matched to container shape and product stability
  • Configured around label roll size and label position
  • Can be supplied as standalone equipment or line-integrated machinery
  • Backed by Lancing UK specification and support

Specification points for this labelling range

ATEX & Hazardous Area Labelling should be selected around product handling, label roll data, required label position and the real production speed needed after changeover. A good specification should also confirm operator access, cleaning, guarding, conveyors, coding and spare parts before the machine is ordered.

  • Confirm product dimensions, material, weight and stability.
  • Check label roll core, outside diameter, label gap and unwind direction.
  • Agree acceptable placement tolerance and repeatability.
  • Plan integration with filling, capping, coding, inspection or end-of-line handling where required.

Engineering selection

Hazardous-area labelling begins with the site assessment and zone information

ATEX-related projects cannot be specified from a standard product description alone. The responsible site team must provide the hazardous-area classification, substance, zone, equipment category requirements and the boundaries of the installation. The labeller, controls, sensors, motors and any printer or coder must then be reviewed as part of the complete application.

Site information

Provide the zone drawing, substance or dust information, area boundaries and the site risk assessment prepared by the responsible competent parties.

Complete equipment scope

Define which parts of the conveyor, applicator, printer, controls, guarding and ancillary equipment are inside the classified area. A standard component outside the zone may have a different requirement from one mounted inside it.

Product and label

The normal container, label roll and placement data are still required. Hazardous-area constraints do not remove the need to prove product handling and label application.

Change control

Record approved components and project-specific documentation so that later replacement parts or modifications do not bypass the agreed hazardous-area design basis.

When another labelling route is likely to be better

Use a standard labelling route when the complete equipment is outside the classified area and the site assessment confirms that no hazardous-area specification applies. Lancing UK will need the project evidence before confirming the appropriate route.

Send samples and the intended acceptance check

Include product dimensions, production label rolls, normal output, changeover range, line layout and the required label position. Lancing UK can then check whether this range is the correct commercial route.

Application engineering

Start with the site classification and product risk information

Hazardous-area suitability is a site and equipment assessment, not a marketing label. The user must provide the area classification, substances, release scenarios and site standards so competent specialists can confirm the required equipment and controls.

Classification evidence

State the classified area, zone or other site designation and who established it.

Substance information

Provide relevant safety data and process conditions without publishing confidential information.

Equipment boundary

Identify every electrical, pneumatic and mechanical item inside the classified area, including conveyors and printers.

Change control

A label head, sensor, printer or enclosure change can affect the assessment and must be reviewed before use.

Discuss the application with Lancing

Send the product, label and line information so the most suitable labelling route can be checked before quotation.
