“Clear label” is not a complete sensor specification. Detection depends on the face material, liner, gap, varnish, print coverage, adhesive and the sensor technology fitted to the proposed label head. A production roll is the safest basis for selection.
The sensor reads a difference between label and gap through or around the web. A clear face on an opaque liner can behave differently from a clear face on a clear liner. Supply the actual liner and any changes planned by the label converter.
Metallic ink, dense print, varnish and windows can pass the sensing point during the roll. Test the most difficult artwork position, not only a blank sample.
